PTR Emails - Small income, but steady !

General Considerations

Paid To Read emails or PTRs in short are a good way to start earning money online. They are no get rich quick schemes so the income is not a great one, but it's steady. In fact you can consider them another way of gaining money online, another stream of income that you can use along side with other opportunities. So, just like paid surveys, don't expect to earn a living online from PTRs, but you can achieve that by using a combination of multiple streams of income.

How It Works ? PTR sites are websites that build up a list of members and offer advertising packages. People that like to advertise their products, websites, etc. come to PTR sites and for a small price they can reach out the members of that site via emails.

So, basically, you sign up for a site and they will send you emails. Each email contains a link to a webpage. Upon clicking on that link, the page will open in your browser, displaying a site. By doing this you get credit with cash or points and the advertiser gets exposure to its site/product. You can browse the advertiser's site for more info or at least keep the page open for a number of seconds. Usually, the webpage has also a small timer on the top, so you'll know when your account is credited.

Some PTR sites have additional ways of gaining money. For example some of them have a PTC (Paid To Click) section where you click on banners. It's the same thing with clicking on the link from the emails. Some have PTS (Paid To Sign Up) sections where you can click on a link, and sign up or buy a product/service from the advertiser's site. The PTR site will pay you if you send the confirmation email (email confirming that you signed up or bought the product).

PTRs List

With a lot of PTR sites out there, of course there are a lot of scams. Also, some PTR websites are better than others, they offer better incentives and a larger number of daily emails. We tried to gather on this list the best PTR sites out there so you can save time with your search. Here are the factors that we used to test and rank them:

Pay.
THE most important factor of all. The PTR site should pay its members and have a good record of payments made on time. We are monitoring PTR related forums and a few sites that rank PTRs so we can weed out the scams.

Incentives.
The emails, as described above, have small incentives. The incentives can't be too big, because the site will run out of clients. The incentives can't be too small because at one point you are loosing too much time clicking to get a few cents. Having this in mind, an incentive of 0.5 to 2 cents is the best option we found. We also encountered sites offering $1 per email but those sites had scam written all over them and later we found that that was really the case. You can also sign up for sites with lower incentives: 0.15-0.25 cents but in that case the site should have a very good daily rate of emails to make up for smaller gainings.

Daily Rate.
Here's another important factor, the daily rate of emails. This factor is somehow related with the value of incentives. Usually a lower incentives PTR sites makes up with a higher daily rate of sent emails. Of course we all want a PTR site with a high daily rate and only 2 cents emails :) But we need to settle for the best ratio incentives / # of emails. 20-30 emails sent per day is considered a good daily rate.

Payout and Accesibility.
Payout is defined by the methods used and the minimum value. Almost every PTR site has E-Gold and PayPal as available payment methods. Some offer additional payment methods like MoneyBookers, etc. Having a reachable payout ammount is also important because of the value of the incentives. You need to actually be able to get your money in an acceptable amount of time (a few weeks, a month). Payout also influences accesibility. If you can't register for a PayPal account and the site only offers PayPal as the payment method that we have a problem. Also, some PTR sites have a limited list of countries from which they accept their members. That's because their advertisers are only interested in reaching people from a specific market. So, sites with PayPal and E-Gold payment options and a minimum payout of $3-5 are OK.

Additional Options.
Having additional money making options is a nice asset to any PTR site. PTC and PTS sections are the most used options. Some sites also offer PTP (Paid To Promote) pages and Autosurf (where you can make traffic exchange with other members). Also, some sites have a "points" system (emails and click ads) beside the "cash" system. Usually, you can trade your points for advertisement or to upgrade your account.

Site Support.
Having a way to contact the person in charge with the site is a good thing. This is a good rule to follow for every web master. Some sites even have forums. There you can discuss with other members, see if there's a problem with payments, ask questions, etc

User Feedback.
Last but not least, the feedback that we receive from our visitors helps us rank the PTR sites. If you know a good PTR site, if you think one of the sites listed is no good please contact us. We value the input and the help we're getting.

Before You Start

Almost all of the websites in the list are built using a PHP script called Cash Crusader. That's why they will look alike if not in the design (which can be easily changed) but in functionality. So here are some advices for you when signing up for a PTR Site that uses the Cash Crusader script:

  • First step is go to Join/Register Page and enter your email address in the field. A confirmation email will be sent at that email address.
  • Check for confirmation email and click on the link. You will be taken to a page on the website (your Profile) where you enter some information about you (name, address, country, etc.). Same place, you get to select some categories of interest (some advertisers will send only to the people from a category) but be carefull ! To make sure you read what you're checking, some sites insert in the list "trap categories" called for example: I cheat !, I don't read English ! and so on.
  • A few of the Members Area options explained:

    • Earnings - here's where you see how much you gained.
    • Earning options - a section where you'll find the additional money making options like: Paid to Click and Paid to Sign Up. Don't forget to check PTC daily if the site is known to have a good activity with PTC ads !!
    • Referral Links/Tools - is where you can find your referral URLs and banners. Starting a downline of people under you will increase your earnings.
    • Downline Stats - is where you can see the number of people that signed up.
    • Profile - if you need to change your email address or your payment option, go there. You have here a option "Send Email To" which you can set up in order to receive the emails on your email account, on site's inbox or both.
    • Cash Out - it's where you request payments. There will be multiple choices and a button will appear under them when you reach the minimum for that choice. So don't worry if there are no buttons to request payment in the beginning.

  • Anti-Cheat. Many of the sites have an anti-cheat mechanism that tries to prevent scripts from "clicking" on the links. There are two known ways: one is the Turin number (at the beginning, when you click on a link a picture with a number shows up and you have to tell them what number it is) and the other is sending "bait mails" with an ad link, but with the message: "Do not click this email ! " or something like that.

If you have other questions, send us a line and we'll gladly help you.
If not, start signing up and good luck !
